An August 31 year-end makes the T2 due February 28, six months after the end of the tax year.
Every resident corporation, including an inactive one, must file a T2 return within six months of its fiscal year-end, every year, until it is formally dissolved. A final T2 is due within six months of dissolution. Having no revenue, no bank activity and no employees does not remove the obligation.
Due dates by tax year
| Fiscal year-end | T2 due |
|---|---|
| August 31, 2025 | February 28, 2026 (falls on a Saturday, so March 02, 2026) |
| August 31, 2026 | February 28, 2027 (falls on a Sunday, so March 01, 2027) |
| August 31, 2027 | February 29, 2028 |
Where a due date falls on a Saturday, a Sunday or a public holiday recognised by the Canada Revenue Agency, a return received the next business day is on time.
Other Year-Ends and the Full Calendar
Every fiscal year-end and its T2 due date is listed on T2 filing deadlines. The T2 deadline calendar shows which due dates move because they fall on a weekend or an Ontario statutory holiday.
Nearby year-ends: July 31 year-end and September 30 year-end.
