You file one T2 return for each outstanding tax year, oldest first, each with its own fiscal year dates. There is no combined return that covers several years. Filing them together in one pass is routine, and each year is assessed separately once the Canada Revenue Agency receives it.

How Do I Catch Up on Years of Unfiled T2 Returns?

Tax years outstandingFee at $300.00 plus HST per tax year
2 years$600.00 plus HST
3 years$900.00 plus HST
4 years$1,200.00 plus HST
5 years$1,500.00 plus HST
6 years$1,800.00 plus HST

A true nil return carries no percentage late-filing penalty, because that penalty is a percentage of tax owing and the corporation owes $0.00. The unfiled year still stays open forever, invites a demand to file and an arbitrary assessment, blocks a clearance certificate and dissolution, and costs a non-resident-owned corporation $25.00 per day up to $2,500.00.

Oldest first matters because each year’s closing position carries into the next return. Filing out of order means going back over earlier years, so the oldest outstanding year is the one to start from.

This service is for a corporation with no activity in the tax year. A corporation with investment income, rental income, or dividends paid or received is not nil.
